We had to sit in this courtroom in Reno for six weeks. It was like Disneyworld. Listening to the tracks, you can hear that I don't mess around with real intricate runs and stuff like that, basically because it isn't necessary. When you start doing that sort of thing with heavy metal music, I think it can start to detract from everything else that's going on. If I started going off in a tangent, instead of having a nice solid underlying base that K.K. and Glenn can build on, the whole thing would probably lose its strength...

We're very excited . . . I'm flying up in a few days to Rochester. We're doing a few production rehearsals up there for a few days and then we kick off the tour on the first. So it's an exciting time for the Priest.

There are right and wrong reasons for doing solo projects, and this album was done for the right reasons. At the time there was no Judas Priest and I certainly wasn't going to hang my hat up on my musical career.

The second show Judas Priest there was a point where I stood back. We had a 40-foot ramp that went out into the crowd. Rob came out on the bike. It was raining. He drove the bike to the end of the ramp. I'm standing there looking at him. Rain coming down. Lights flashing. Blue smoke everywhere from the bike. He's on the bike with his metal horns in the air, and there were 30,000 people in front of him screaming. I remember thinking, "This is real."

And because of the reunion I think we've got more energy and enthusiasm than we've ever had. And it's genuine. I think the fans can detect when you're genuine, when you love what you do, and we love to be there on stage. That's what we thrive on.
