Thoughts about myself hinder my usefulness to God.
Oswald Chambers -
Refusing to be disillusioned is the cause of much of the suffering of human life. And this is how that suffering happens-if we love someone, but do not love God, we demand total perfection and righteousness from that person, and when we do not get it, we become cruel and vindictive; yet we are demanding of a human being which he or she cannot possibly give.
Oswald Chambers
-
Worship God in the difficult circumstances, and when He chooses, He will alter them in two seconds.
Oswald Chambers -
The nature of the spiritual life is that we are certain in our uncertainty.
Oswald Chambers -
Our spiritual life cannot be measured by success as the world measures it, but only by what God pours through us- and we cannot measure that at all.
Oswald Chambers -
Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.
Oswald Chambers -
When a man’s heart is right with God the mysterious utterances of the Bible are spirit and life to him. Spiritual truth is discernible only to a pure heart, not to a keen intellect. It is not a question of profundity of intellect, but of purity of heart.
Oswald Chambers -
God’s training is for now, not presently. His purpose is for this minute, not for something in the future. we have nothing to do with the afterwards of obedience; we can get it wrong when we think of the afterwards. what men call training and preparation, God calls the end… if we realize that obedience is the end, then each moment is precious
Oswald Chambers
-
We read some things in the Bible three hundred and sixty-five times and they mean nothing to us, then all of a sudden we see what God means, because in some particular we have obeyed God, and instantly His nature is opened up.
Oswald Chambers -
It is a joy to Jesus when a person takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in scripture to be a visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus
Oswald Chambers -
One of the greatest hindrances in coming to Jesus is the excuse of temperament. We make our temperament and our natural affinities barriers to coming to Jesus. The first thing we realize when we come to Jesus is that He pays no attention whatever to our natural affinities. We have the notion that we can consecrate our gifts to God. You cannot consecrate what is not yours; there is only one thing you can consecrate to God, and that is your right to yourself (Romans 12:1). If you will give God your right to yourself, He will make a holy experiment out of you. God’s experiments always succeed.
Oswald Chambers -
We have the idea that God is going to do some exceptional thing- that He is preparing and equipping us for some extraordinary work in the future. But as we grow in His grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, at this very moment. If we have God’s assurance behind us, the most amazing strength becomes ours, and we learn to sing, glorifying Him even in the ordinary days and ways of life.
Oswald Chambers -
Faith, as the Bible teaches it, is faith in God coming against everything that contradicts Him- a faith that says, “I will remain true to God’s character whatever He may do.” The highest and the greatest expression of faith in the whole Bible is- “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15).
Oswald Chambers -
I cannot give up my will - I must exercise it, putting it into action.
Oswald Chambers
-
A sentimentalist is one who delights to have high and devout emotions stirred whilst reading in an arm-chair, or in a prayer meeting, but he never translates his emotions into action. Consequently a sentimentalist is usually callous, self-centred and selfish, because the emotions he likes to have stirred do not cost him anything.
Oswald Chambers -
Sin is not wrong doing, it is wrong BEING, deliberate and emphatic independence of God.
Oswald Chambers -
Be exhausted for God, but remember that your supply comes from Him. 'All my fresh springs shall be in thee.'
Oswald Chambers -
Beware of any work for God that causes or allows you to avoid concentrating on Him. A great number of Christian workers worship their work. The only concern of Christian workers should be their concentration on God.
Oswald Chambers -
Readiness for God means that we are ready to do the tiniest little thing or the great big thing, it makes no difference.
Oswald Chambers -
Be rightly related to God, find your joy there, and out of you will flow rivers of living water.
Oswald Chambers
