I've always found that it's such an emotional experience, trying to find the good parts of a bad character or the bad parts of a good character, and in the end, most of these qualities are already there inside me.
-
I felt violated after certain scenes in the movie Stone. Lucetta is a tough character. The choices she makes, especially her sexual choices... it was hard for me to put myself out there like that.
-
I don't at all want to resemble some of these young designers who ask hallucinating prices for rags that are so in fashion now, that six months later, they are old-fashioned! I love vintage boutiques, I love to customize my clothes. And then, with my friends, we regularly exchange togs.
-
When you're doing martial arts, you feel like you can master certain skills and be so much more in control of who you are, so that really appealed to me.
-
Music for me is something I prefer to keep away form the whole business part of my life. I feel like everything I do, in a way, has some sort of business around it. So with my music I can have my privacy. If people don't have to pay for it then I think they can be a little more open to new ideas.
-
Its going to seem idiotic to say this, but I think that at a given moment we all need a place to ourselves where we can refuge ourselves and cut ourselves off from the world.
-
Everybody needs to go to Mongolia just to see what it is to be a human being again.
-
I really want my agent to make sure they write a part in the next Airbender movie for me. I'll be really upset if I don't get to be a waterbender or something.
-
I was in acting classes from the age of 9, dance classes, music classes - my mom put a lot of energy and attention into me, so no matter what happened in my life, I always had this basis of discipline. So I really worked hard for everything I had from a very early age.
-
You have the energy when you're a kid to really fight for rights - that's why kids make great soldiers, right?
-
I started super young, but when I think about myself at that age - what I thought I knew, and how priggish I was, how certain of things - now I realize that nothing is certain.
-
I just want to make one really good movie a year. And when I die, to know I was honest as an artist.
-
You know, women are so much cooler than guys because we can do more martial arts. Martial arts are pretty much made for women because we're quicker and we're smaller than men, and so we're faster. You girls really should take martial arts.
-
When I did The Fifth Element 1997, it was like, "Oh my goodness, who is this character?" I loved doing Resident Evil, but Resident Evil is Resident Evil with or without me. It's an entity of its own. It's not like Milla made Resident Evil.
-
I grew up with Thundercats and She-Ra: Princess Of Power. That was sort of my take on fantasy: the women after-school cartoon world.
-
I love the training, learning the stunts, doing them. I love feeling that power – doing things you could never actually do in life – like flying and doing backflips in the air!
-
I love making independent movies, and that's pretty much what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my years...
-
At the end of it all, it's my little movie library, and you see aspects of me through that.
-
Girls who are dancers tend to be much better models than girls who just got picked off the street. Dance is a discipline, just like martial arts. No matter what you do, you have this sort of confidence that no one can take away from you - every time you step somewhere, you're sure of where you're going.
-
For me, having kids put so much into perspective. I wasn't so worried about my career and what I did or didn't achieve. Because, suddenly, I was like, "As long as this baby is healthy and safe, everything else is fine."
-
I really connected with martial arts. I'd always had a fantasy as a kid of being a ninja warrior, so it definitely answered that sort of need in my psyche, too - a need to be superpowerful.
-
What's interesting about the movie and characters is that they're one thing to the world and another thing in their heads.
-
I feel like confidence is something that ebbs and flows. I was given a lot of love and attention from my family growing up, so for sure I had a natural confidence.
-
What attracted me to A Perfect Getaway was that I sorta played a girlfriend role for, you know, 85 percent of the film. That was really interesting to me, because I'd never really played a girlfriend before.
