Attica Locke is an American author of fiction and television. In 2018 she won an Edgar Award for her fourth novel, Bluebird, Bluebird, a mystery featuring a black Texas Ranger as protagonist. She was a writer and producer for the television series Empire when she published her early novels. Her first novel, Black Water Rising, was nominated for the Edgar and five other awards, including the short list of the Orange Prize.
