Jack Green is a Scottish musician and songwriter. Green played with T. Rex between 1973 and 1974, then with The Pretty Things between 1974 and 1976, recording Silk Torpedo and Savage Eye.

I think a lot of rock stars take themselves too seriously. Then again, if you want to be a ‘star’ you’ve got to appear to take yourself very seriously indeed. I, unfortunately, could never do this for any length of time. Probably because of my upbringing, my feet were planted far too firmly on the ground. I found the rock star thing pretty laughable. I couldn’t take those types seriously. If I had, I would probably have got further along in the business.
We were trying to get a sound on an instrument and I said it should sound robotic and he said, ‘You mean humanesque?’ I thought it was a good word and used it for the title.
Recognizing masterpieces is the job of the critic, not writing competent reviews of the unimportant.
I love doing it and am happy with my life.
