Craig Sherman joined late-stage specialist Meritech in 2010 after a handful of years running online social gaming pioneer Gaia Interactive and before that was COO of online genealogy site Ancestry.com. For some reason he's always done well with startups beginning with the letter Z. He invested in white-hot Zulily (IPO 2013), Zillow (IPO 2011) and Zipcar (acquired by Avis in 2013 for $500 million). He is currently nurturing investments in technical education site Lynda.com and note-taking-and-backup service Evernote. His mission: "Helping entrepreneurs grow great companies they can tell their kids about."
