Catherine Maria Fanshawe was an English poet, the daughter of John Fanshawe, a Surrey squire, and his wife Penelope (née Dredge). She was born at Shabden in Chipstead, Surrey. Her poetry was praised by Walter Scott. She and her sisters were also artists.
