Beverly Ann Donofrio (born 23 September 1950) is an American memoirist, children's author, and creative writing teacher most noted for her 1992 best selling memoir, Riding in Cars with Boys. The memoir was adapted into the 2001 film Riding in Cars with Boys, directed by Penny Marshall, with Drew Barrymore portraying Donofrio. She also is a prolific essayist, having published work in numerous anthologies, in The New York Times, The Washington Post Sunday Magazine, The Village Voice, the Los Angeles Times, and in such magazines as Allure, Cosmopolitan, O, The Oprah Magazine, and Marie Claire.
