So we know they're going to challenge in that area, and we can't have a punt blocked. Some of that was our punter didn't go straight ahead when he kicked it.
Bobby Petrino -
You need to get up early and get started, ... That's nice too. You don't have to sit and wait all day long for the game to come. I would anticipate us to come out ready to play and fired up and be real aggressive. Of course, they are going to be a real good football team too so it will probably be a real good battle.
Bobby Petrino
-
And I'm sure hoping that comes true this time, because we really need to.
Bobby Petrino -
With the opportunity to play for a BCS game, ... our players have been very motivated and truly believe we are moving into a tougher league.
Bobby Petrino -
It's really important for us to keep the best player in the city of Louisville here every year. I see Henderson right in line with Michael Bush, Brian Brohm, Mario Urrutia and Earl Heyman. He continues that tradition. His movement and maturity give him an opportunity to compete early for a spot to play. He's got an advantage that he'll be here all summer working out.
Bobby Petrino -
No, no, we don't like having the bye week right after the opener.
Bobby Petrino -
I'm certainly not worried about the play-calling, ... I know we can move the ball. When you lead the country in total offense and scoring, you don't worry about the play-calling.
Bobby Petrino -
Our staff had an unbelievable effort. We searched under every rock out there and found some real good players late. We went against some really good schools and we didn't shy away. We competed and had some great battles. We took some hits and we won some. The players coming in really feel like they're joining a program that has a chance to go to a BCS bowl and win a national championship.
Bobby Petrino
-
That's going to be important for us to stay fresh and rush the passer because they're going to continue to throw the ball, ... They might throw it six, seven, eight times in a row.
Bobby Petrino -
That's something that's really important for us because I do feel that we'll have a lot of games this year that will come down to the fourth quarter. And how well you take care of the ball and how well you run it will make the difference.
Bobby Petrino -
They are very big and physical on the offensive front. They like to run the football, so we have to do a good job of mixing up what we do, playing our game and doing a good job at the line of scrimmage and then also using our speed at linebacker and in the secondary to get to the ball.
Bobby Petrino -
She sang a lot of songs. 'The Bear Went Over the Mountain' and things like that. But the one she was really good at singing was 'I Found a Peanut.' Now I know why she sang that so many times.
Bobby Petrino -
He's been out running full speed, changing direction. As you look at spring, we've got to give him the ball enough so he stays sharp and stays healthy.
Bobby Petrino -
But I was very proud of our team. I thought they showed a lot of character, showed a lot of competitiveness on the sideline. Because when we got behind, the sideline was great. ... We kept our poise, kept our confidence.
Bobby Petrino
-
We're lucky to get out of here with a win.
Bobby Petrino -
That momentum is something that's hard to explain. But we've seen both sides of it. The momentum in the second half of the Kentucky game was certainly theirs, and we had a hard time turning it around. Today, they started out, and then we started making big plays. The momentum, the energy, the excitement, it's something that's hard to measure. But I was certainly glad to see it.
Bobby Petrino -
Everybody would like to see that. Oregon State plays very aggressive on defense. They try to get eight or nine guys down to stop the run and play really tight press coverage with their corners. What they try to do is get a pass rush and put a clock on the quarterback, and they're very good at that. They have three new starters in the secondary. Everyone has been waiting for the ball to go downfield and we're definitely going to have to do that in this game and make some big plays.
Bobby Petrino -
We'll probably have him do as much as he can as long as nobody is around him. We won't take any chances.
Bobby Petrino -
Those are three crucial errors you can't have, ... That really hurt field position and hurt our ability to move the ball out.
Bobby Petrino -
Hopefully, he'll have some impact right away. Defensive line is one of the biggest areas we needed to address. We needed to replace some of that production. Getting some defensive linemen with speed and size was very significant. And we were very fired up to the good news about Heath this morning. He also has the opportunity to contribute early.
Bobby Petrino
-
Any time you get up in the morning and get started it's easier, ... It's easier on your stomach, that's for sure.
Bobby Petrino -
They're going to try to run the ball at us, ... They like their fullback they have, and they like their big running backs. They're a physical team, so we're going to have to try to shut down the run and force them to throw the ball.
Bobby Petrino -
Most of the time in February, everybody thinks they have the best class they've ever had. But we won't know until we get them here in August and see them. Certainly the way they rank them and the way we feel about them, it's our best class top to bottom. But that's always yet to be seen.
Bobby Petrino -
Brian threw the ball real well. He was very accurate today and I thought he did his best job of reading and taking what the defense gave us because they played us a little bit different than we thought they would coverage-wise, dropped guys a little deeper, blitzed us more on first down. So they had a pretty good plan coming in and we had to adjust a little bit.
