But those states that are not going to comply by Jan. 1 have been in touch with the Department of Justice. The agency has taken the practical position it is going to work with us, and we are making good-faith efforts to comply by the next federal election. I know of no state that is going to be sued for noncompliance.

It seems like our calls run in spurts. There was a three-month period where we didn't pull the trucks out of the building and then we had nine calls in two weeks that were either EMS or fire calls.

When you are in Hull and have to wait for a Pittsfield ambulance, it's at least 25 minutes. We'll respond and evaluate and provide what assistance and care that we can. The paramedic on board the ALS unit will give us instructions.
