I wrote about drugs, and I didn't think I was being unsafe or careless by writing about them. I didn't want fans to think heroin was cool. But then I've had fans come up to me and give me the thumbs up, telling me they're high. That's exactly what I didn't want to happen.

I saw all the suffering that Kurt Cobain went through. I saw this real vibrant person turn into a real shy, timid, withdrawn person.
-
I'm not using drugs to get high like many people think. I know I made a big mistake when I started using this sh-. It's a very difficult thing to explain. My liver is not functioning and I'm throwing up all the time and shitting my pants. The pain is more than you can handle. It's the worst pain in the world. Dope sick hurts the entire body.

At home I'm just a guy who has interests that extend far beyond music.
-
To me not one thing is better than anything else, I'm completely proud of everything I've written and recorded.
-
I'm not doing well. Don't try to talk about this to my sister Liz. She will know it sooner or later.
-
There's nothing worse than talking about yourself to find out that you're not that interesting.

We started this band as kids, and as time has gone on, we've grown and are learning to accommodate each others' differences.
-
I was in a band when I was 15. We were a glam band. Then I couldn't afford to buy makeup. At the time that was the thing.
-
I'm doing the best I can with what I got and that's all anybody in my band is doing.
-
I'm dumbfounded by me all the time. Wow! What a.... thrill.....and a joy

We've mastered the art of making pretty music that makes you want to die.

If we found some other dude, to sing I'd love to move on. Write some cool tunes and change the name and go on like that. I don't see continuing as Alice and replacing somebody. We're not trying to replace Layne. We want to play these songs one more time, and if it seems like the right thing to do, it'll happen. I don't know how long it will go or where it will take us. It's kind of a tribute to Layne and our fans, the people who love these songs. It's not some 'I'm broke and I need the money' situation. We love playing together.

Los Angeles, I don't like that town. Too decadent, and it's slimy.

You feel different every day of your life. You just have to create your own space to survive, personally and professionally.
-
I started out when I was about 12, playing drums. I started singing when I was about 15.
-
I wish I could just hug you all, but I'm not gonna.
-
We're going to go and play the songs one more time. It seems like the right time, so I figure we'll go out and play a few gigs and see where it goes. I think we might just show up in assorted places in the U.S. in the next few months without much notice and play some clubs and little theaters, and then go to Europe and play these festival gigs. Beyond that, we don't know at this point.

My bad habits aren't my title. My strengths and my talent are my title.

One of the first bands to break out of Seattle was Heart.
-
One thing that you hope for when you want to be a musician is that you have that recognizable sound.
-
Layne Thomas StaleyThe songs are about things that we were thinking and we wrote 'em down, and when you listen to 'em, whatever you think it's about... THAT'S what it's about!

I'm not into religion, but I have a good grasp on my spirituality. I just believe that I'm not the greatest power on this earth. I didnt create myself, because I would have done a hell of a better job.

I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied.
