I am a movie fan across the board, though, so if a movie is well done then I love it and it does not really matter what the genre is.
I love the Western genre. In fact, one of my dreams is to play a cowboy on screen, like Clint Eastwood. I don't think it's going to happen, but you can always hope.
For a while, the genre seemed to be just about sex and crime. Rappers are storytellers; the stories don't need to be true!
Classical music is a genre of music. It's no more complex or less complex than pop music or R&B. The elitism is weird.

When you take a genre that is this entrenched and become the worldwide standard for how a news program is done and you start looking at alternative ways to do it, it's a challenging process, ... You have a core audience that is used to things a certain way that you don't want to alienate, but you also want to attract a new audience. We're trying to balance those two things.
I'm a writer, not a genre.
B.B. King will be remembered for his impressive skills on the guitar, that King defined the blue genre.
When people say, Your music was the music of the Seventies, I say, So was discoteque. The Seventies was also the highest peak of heavy metal. Pick a genre - they were all alive.
Sometimes people think we should be the great big overlords, standing over the scene with a big stick ready to hit anybody who doesn’t conform to the genre, but the whole strength of any scene of music is the people that progressively come into to it, who bring their ideas into it. Like anything else, within the genre there are some bands I really like, some I like a bit, and some that don’t do it for me – that’s the way it should be. Our part in it is to continue to make the very best albums that we can, that don’t skimp on the very best elements of Napalm. Fast, furious, noisy, nasty, but also with a real essence of humanity behind it.
