I'm an actor's director.
-
I have always been Fred Durst and I've always been me.

When life was worrying about a car payment or a rent payment and a bill, you're so consumed with that, you really don't have time to know yourself. That's surviving and getting by.
-
I'm an actor's director. I love it when talented actors can bring characters to life.
-
Anybody who wears their feelings on their sleeve and has a harder, crusty shell - like I do - is definitely protecting an inner sensitivity.
-
When I go to shows, I'm really looking forward to hearing the songs I know. I don't like it when a band tries to expose me to new stuff.
-
The great musicians are those who can reach people, who can make people feel something.
-
My early influences I'd say were, well, just about all the old great masters like Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, naturally Charlie Parker and quite a few others that are still around like Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Illinois Jacquet and of course my great friend Dexter Gordon.
-
I'm always looking for new talent.
-
I'm in touch with the social networks and stuff.

I don't want to bore myself, so I'm always writing new music. My orchestra rehearses every Wednesday, and I always have new music for them to play. My music is still progressing - just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it's not alive. The music is complicated, but it's about emotion. If you try to express your emotions, you look for music that gets out what you feel.

I'm a real director.
-
Well I'm a third-generation musician. My Grandfather's a musician and my father and mother were both musicians and so I'm a musician. It was just natural that I should be a musician 'cause I was born into the family.
-
I love electronic music, and I love drum and bass.
-
Sometimes I feel like I used to be a person that liked to express himself a lot and put my feelings out there.
-
I don't think my name would necessarily draw people to come see the movie. It might hurt the movie, honestly.
-
To walk around with an ego is a bad thing. To have confidence in yourself is a great thing.
-
I want to make timeless movies.
-
I was really conscious of that when I went in because I felt that I was pretty solid on the first one, but I didn't have the groove exactly where I wanted it.
-
I was a kid who got picked on in school, and now the guys beating up those kids were wearing red caps and using my music to fuel that aggression. But if they listen to the lyrics, the aggression is targeted at them.
-
I usually find several ways to express myself: different moods, different days, different voices, different things, 'I'm lighthearted today, I'm gonna do this.'
-
When the songs pop out, that's like the climax of us building.
-
I'm the same guy at that podium preaching to the people on every single song. I'm not doing a dance for you on another song. It's all a direct assault.
-
As much as I want to go out and tour every single day and I'm ready to rip it right now, there's five people in the band, there's five people who've evolved and grown and there's five people who have to get on the same page and want the same things, and it takes a lot to tour.
