Abu Dawud Sulaymān ibn al-Ash‘ath al-Azdi as-Sijistani , commonly known simply as Abu Dawud, was a Persian scholar of prophetic hadith who compiled the third of the six "canonical" hadith collections recognized by Sunni Muslims, the Sunan Abu Dāwūd.
The Prophet (saw) said, Those who are nearest to Allah are they who are first to give a salutation (salams).
Whoever imitates a people is one of them.
If anyone cares for three daughters, disciplines them, marries them, and does good to them, he will go to Jannah.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: By his good character a believer will attain the degree of one who prays during the night and fasts during the day.
He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.
Many times I heard Imam Ahmad saying (when asked to give his opinion) on controversial scholarly issues 'I do not know.'
The Prophet (saw) said, A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend.
